Willingham has successful knee surgery

Nationals outfielder Josh Willingham had surgery on his left knee, to clean up his left meniscus, on Wednesday and is expected to be ready for Spring Training.

Desmond out; Willingham to have surgery

Shortstop Ian Desmond missed his second consecutive game because of a sore thumb. The injury is not considered serious, and Desmond said he expects to be back in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs.

Willingham heads to DL; Morgan returns

As expected, the Nationals placed left fielder Josh Willingham on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, because of a torn meniscus in his left knee, and activated center fielder Nyjer Morgan from his DL stint.
