Michael Morse, starting for the injured Adam LaRoche at first base, hit his third homer of the year, but Washington couldn't manage much more in a lopsided 11-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night.

Bats unable to back Livan in narrow defeat

In a 1-0 Marlins victory Saturday at Nationals Park, starter Anibal Sanchez did what the Nats' Tom Gorzelanny could not the previous night: deliver a repeat performance. Livan Hernandez pitched well, but gave up the game's lone run in the seventh.

Desmond unable to snap out of funk

Nationals unable to back Livan, drop opener

Livan Hernandez held the Braves to two runs over 6 1/3 innings on Opening Day, but the Nationals were held in check by Derek Lowe and the Braves' bullpen, dropping a 2-0 decision on Thursday at Nationals Park in Washington.
