Zimmermann sharp, but offense quiet in loss

The Nationals' consistently strong defense finally let them down on Saturday at Nationals Park, where nearly every ball to the outfield was an adventure in a 2-1 loss to the Padres. Jordan Zimmerman pitched well in defeat, allowing two runs over six innings.

Zimmermann sharp, but bats come up empty

Nationals right-hander Jordan Zimmermann pitched arguably the best game of his young career. He had a perfect game after five innings, but Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee was better, blanking the Nationals, 4-0, on Thursday night at Nationals Park.
