Pudge scratched to get Morgan at-bats

Nationals catcher Ivan Rodriguez was scheduled to start against the Tigers as the designated hitter on Sunday, but was a late scratch as Washington wanted to see Nyjer Morgan get more at-bats.

Pudge, Espinosa scratched from lineup

Nationals catcher Ivan Rodriguez and second baseman Danny Espinosa were scratched from Friday's lineup against the Cardinals. Rodriguez is still nursing a calf injury, while Espinosa is nursing a right foot injury. The injuries are not considered serious.

Strasburg scratched from start after warmups

Right-hander Stephen Strasburg was scratched from Tuesday's start against the Braves. Instead, Miguel Batista made the spot start. No reason was given as to why Strasburg was scratched.

Zimmermann scratched with stiff neck

Nationals right-hander Jordan Zimmermann was scratched for Monday's start with Class A Potomac because of a stiff neck. He will be evaluated Tuesday.

Bernadina scratched with back tightness

Outfielder Roger Bernadina was scheduled to hit second and play right field for the Nationals on Saturday afternoon, but he was scratched because of lower back tightness.
