Relief corps revels in rare evening off

The bullpen should be buying Jason Marquis dinner after Monday night. Marquis threw eight sparkling innings in a 5-2 win over the Astros, allowing all of his team's relievers except for closer Drew Storen, who pitched the ninth for the save, a night off.

Burnett has significant role in Nats' relief corps

Sean Burnett picked up his first save Saturday, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings against the Braves. Jim Riggleman wouldn't name Burnett the team's closer, but the skipper expected Burnett to be ready for the ninth. Riggleman announced recently that Burnett and Drew Storen would split the role.

Strasburg praises Storen's stellar relief

In the Nationals' 6-5 victory over the Mets on Saturday, right-hander Stephen Strasburg had his shortest outing of his young career, while reliever Drew Storen had arguably his best outing of the season.
