Werth exits finale vs. Phillies with injury

Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth left Sunday's game against the Phillies after hurting his left wrist in the sixth inning. It's not known known how serious the injury is.

When they added Gio Gonzalez and Edwin Jackson over the winter, the Nationals knew they had the pieces to comprise a top-notch starting rotation. They couldn't have possibly expected that hope to come to fruition so soon, though.

Zimmermann strong but outdueled in series finale

The Nationals and Cubs found themselves in a pitchers' duel on Sunday afternoon. When it was over, it was Chicago that edged Washington, 4-3, at Wrigley Field. It was Washington's first loss of the season.

In spring finale, Gio holds Cardinals in check

In his final spring start, Nationals lefty Gio Gonzalez gave up one run over five innings in a 2-1 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday at Roger Dean Stadium. Danny Espinosa hit his first spring homer and Mark DeRosa added an RBI single.
