Balester called up; Maya to start Sunday

With Nationals left-hander Tom Gorzelanny on the disabled list because of inflammation in his left elbow, the club recalled reliever Collin Balester on Saturday. Yunesky Maya will be called up Sunday to start in Gorzelanny's place.

The Nationals optioned right-hander Collin Balester to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday night after he pitched a scoreless inning of relief in a 7-2 loss to the Pirates.

Balester 'making a case' for Nats' roster spot
