Nationals bring back most of coaching staff

Hitting coach Rick Eckstein, pitching coach Steve McCatty, third-base coach Bo Porter, first-base coach Trent Jewett and bullpen coach Jim Lett will return for the 2012 season, the Nationals announced on Thursday. The club also announced that Randy Knorr will join the staff as bench coach.

Detwiler pushed back to Monday

Because the second game of a doubleheader against the Dodgers was rained out on Thursday, left-hander Ross Detwiler was pushed back in the Nationals' rotation, and will now pitch on Monday against the Mets at Citi Field in New York.

Nats hope to get Mattheus back by Sept. 20

Reliever Ryan Mattheus, who's on the disabled list with a sore right shoulder, has started playing catch and will have a bullpen session on Sunday at Nationals Park.
