Nationals waste Stammen's stellar start

The Nationals squandered a solid pitching performance from their starting pitcher for the second consecutive game in a 1-0 loss to the Marlins on Sunday afternoon at Sun Life Stadium, as Florida took two of three games in the opening series of the second half of the season.

Clippard seems to be regaining early form

There was a positive in the Nationals' shutout loss to the Marlins on Saturday night. Right-handed reliever Tyler Clippard, who has struggled recently, worked two perfect innings out of the bullpen, which pleased manager Jim Riggleman.

Nats begin second half with solid pitching

Stephen Strasburg and Livan Hernandez delivered impressive pitching performances to open the series against the Marlins, and Jim Riggleman hopes those are signs of what is in store for the season's second half.
